Wedding Series- The Venue

Why helllo lovelies!

It’s been awhile since I have had the chance to sit down and actually write a blog post but I’m back!

As many of you know, I’m getting married soon- September actually… so I decided to kind of start a “wedding” series. Hopefully you all enjoy my wedding series and maybe it can help you out even at some point planning your own wedding.

The first thing we did was of course find my venue, all I knew was I wanted to be married on the beach and when I say on the beach I mean toes in the sand. Conveniently the only venue that did weddings on the beach was the hotel my family stays at every time we visit the beach.

As we were checking out from our vacation my mom and I mentioned having a wedding there and they gave us a information folder with all the information we would ever need to know about having a wedding at their hotel. As I looked through the packet I knew I wanted to be married there- my mom knew that was the place also.

We did some thinking and looking at numbers, when we settled on a date we called the Wedding Coordinator and booked the venue for September 16.

The venue included the upstairs restaurant for the reception and neither of us had seen the room so we scheduled a meeting time and made a meeting time to view the room where our reception would be held.

Oh. My. Gosh. Talk about beautiful, there’s a cute little room off to the side with hardwood floors and that’s where the DJ and the dance floor are during the reception. We are also given use of the outside deck which faces the ocean… major heart eyes guys.

My wedding is a Sunday afternoon wedding, 11-4, perfect sunlight pictures and hopefully perfect weather.

As of right now, I’m leaning to only serve mimosas and beer no hard liquor… it’s early and I want my wedding to be classy as possible… don’t get me wrong, if you serve alcohol at your wedding more power to you! It’s just a decision I’m going to have to really think about.

Along with the venue comes with the colors- linens, flowers, cake etc. As of now I’m thinking blue jean blue, burlap brown, peachy pink, and like a leafy green. More natural colors.

The linens have been a hard decision for me but I think I have finally picked which color out of those I want to use, buuutttt you’ll have to wait and see what I choose closer to the date!

The wedding coordinator has made the venue much easier. She will take my decor the night before and put it all up for me and get my whole wedding ready for me and all I have to do is show up to my wedding. That’s another selling point of my venue.

Along with my venue, on our anniversary every year we get a free nights stay at the hotel, free of charge just because we got married at the venue. Yes I’m serious- a free nights stay at the beach… I’ll take it!

Well, that’s my “Venue” post… hopefully you all enjoyed it and maybe it helped you out! If you have any questions feel free to leave them below!

XOXO,

Ashley

December Ipsy

Wow, I can’t believe December is already here and Christmas is in 7 days… 7 DAYS! Winter is coming in 3 days… this is my favorite time of the year.

Maybe I should quit blabbering and get on with this post. So this month I have to say my Ipsy bag was so-so for me. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. The bag itself I think is adorable but the contents… eh.

The first thing I received was The Coffee Scrub in the scent Coconut. I’ve never really used a scrub so maybe I’ll give this one a try.

I’m kind of happy that I received the MAC Extreme Dimension Lash, MAC is a brand that is so talked up in the beauty community and I haven’t really tried much besides their lipstick and setting spray.

I received the Meech and Mia white pigment and I’m so so on this because I don’t usually wear pigments and if I do I tend to go for glittery colors.

The trestique brow pencil I received I wasn’t super excited about, I don’t usually use many brow pencils so it will probably get passed on to a friend.

Lastly I received a shader brush from Luxie beauty. I love luxie brushes they are so soft and hardy brushes.

Well that’s all that I got in my Ipsy bag this month. It wasn’t the best this month but it had a few good things so I won’t complain.

What did you get in your bag this month?

Ashley

What skincare products I’m currently using

I have never been the one to have bad problems with acne or skin issues when I was younger or even high school. I was one of the lucky ones who was blessed with pretty clear skin… besides those one or two when “Mother Nature” decides to come along if you know what I mean!

About a year and a half ago I was put on a medication, which I’m not on anymore thank god, and the medication totally broke out my face with the acne I had never had. I tried everything… over the counter washes to Dermatologists. Nothing worked.

When I heard of Rodan and Fields, I thought it seemed to good to be true. I thought “oh they’re just saying it’s this good to make money!” That’s because it is a pretty steep price, $180!

Well one day I decided to go out on a limb and just order it because honestly it couldn’t get worse than it was so why not give this stuff a shot. Maybe it’ll work like everyone says? So I went online and purchased the Unblemish line.

I will admit along the way of using Unblemish I have had my doubts. Around week four I was frustrated thinking my skin problems would never be fixed. My mom encouraged me to keep trying. I’m so glad I did… around week 8, I looked in the mirror and thought wow my face looks really good! It’s starting to take both my acne and scarring away!

I finally have hope that my face will clear up. Why? Unblemish!

When taking off my makeup at first I use Dove sensitive skin bar soap then I go in with the treatment wash and then follow the steps from there.

If you’re questioning wheither or not to try Rodan and Fields I would say go for it!

Why I Chose to Have a Wedding Coordinator…

Like I said in my last post (it’s been awhile I know!) I’m getting married September 16, 2018. We are getting married on the beach then moving into the hotel restaurant for the reception.

What does my Wedding Coordinator do?

My Wedding Coordinator takes care of most of my wedding honestly. When we first secured the venue she sent me the list of vendors that I will be using (cake, flowers, DJ…) which all come in the price of my wedding.

When the wedding gets closer she will help me get in contact with these vendors and make sure I have all my ducks in a row.

For the ceremony, they set out all the chairs in white or brown (my choosing). Also, the arch which will be covered in flowers and greenery.

On the wedding day, I hand her any decorations that I would like set up in the venue and they place them out for me. They also decorate with linens in the colors of my choosing. Of course they help get the cake set up and placed on the table with our cake server and cutting set that we have purchased.

In other words… once my hairstylist and my makeup artist are finished and I get my dress on, all I have to do is show up to my beautiful wedding. Completely anxiety and worry free!

Are you getting married? Would you use a Wedding Coordinator? Let me know in the comments below!

Why I Cancelled Birchbox

As the title says… I have decided to cancel my Birchbox. There are many reasons behind this decision. You may be thinking, “it’s only $10” that $10 adds up as you keep being let down by the boxes. Here’s why I cancelled: 1. Inconsistency. The Birchbox subscription is VERY inconsistent. I can get a half way decent box one month then get a horrible box the next month.

2. Disappointment. When I do get that good box I will think okay they’re getting better, I can’t wait for next month. Then what happens next month? It’s a huge disappointment, I’ll get another bad box.

3. Way to many hair products. I signed up for the beauty/makeup products it promises. I hardly ever get a makeup item. All I get is loads of hair products and they’re adding up quickly.

4. The $10 is a waste if the products don’t leave me happy!

I wanted to like Birchbox so much but I just couldn’t bring myself to like it enough to keep it.

I hope this helped you if you’re a subscriber or thinking of subscribing, thanks for reading!

Must Have Festival Beauty Products

Good evening loves! Spring is upon us therefore… FESTIVAL SEASON IS COMING! I have put together a little list of must-have’s for Coachella, hope this helps some of you when preparing to go to Coachella!

Starting off with face products, I have chosen the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. This foundation is a matte foundation and it is very long wearing. It’s perfect for the days you want your makeup to stay perfect day and night.

With any foundation you need a setting powder, the Kat Von D lock it setting powder. This powder helps keep your makeup in place while setting any tackiness your foundation may leave behind. This is a matte setting powder and it leaves no white cast (for those selfie takers that were wondering).

For the eyes I have first picked the Naked Smokey pallet, this pallet is so beautiful for any kind of eye look. You could go more natural or more sultry and Smokey with your eye look.

For eyeliner I have two options, drugstore and high end. The first is NYX vivid brights eyeliner. I love the vivid brights not only because the cost but the colors they leave behond, so bold yet not over the top. Next is Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, these are so beautiful if you are willing to go out and spend a little more. The glitter is just drop dead gorgeous.

For mascara I have picked the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. I love this mascara. I can’t say that enough. This mascara makes your lashes stand out and look beautiful. At any festival/Coachella a waterproof mascara will be super important because with all the dancing you will be doing… sweat comes along.

Lastly for lips, Colourpop makes perfect lippies for any persons style at only $5-$6! They make lip gloss, satin lips, matte, metallic, etc. The matte lippies last ALL day! Honestly I don’t buy many lip products unless they are from Colourpop!

Overall, these are my must-have festival/Coachella beauty products! I hope you all enjoyed this post and maybe it helped some of you!

Ashley

Why it’s important to treat yourself now and then…

Treating yourself is a majorly important thing in life, in my opinion. I mean giving is also important but there are times where you just have to think “What can I do that will make me happy?”

I have found that if I treat myself once in a while it boosts my self esteem tremendously. That new bra makes me feel pretty (even though I’m the only one that can see it). Those new tops make me feel pretty wherever I go. I just feel better about myself.

There are many ways to treat yourself that isn’t just buying clothes:

  • Get a mani-pedi
  • Buy that purse/shoes you have had your eye on
  • Do your makeup, even when you have nowhere to go
  • Go out for drinks with the girls or even the hubby
  • Take a bubble bath and light some candles
  • Get your hair done
  • Bake some cookies/eat some ice cream
  • Watch Netflix/Hulu

Those are only a few ways you can treat yourself, but don’t be afraid to actually do it… everyone needs it once in a while. I know I do! Life gets stressful and sometimes you need room to breathe.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy and these suggestions help you out!

Ashley

Target Finds

Hello loves! This weekend I had to take a trip to Target with my mom, we don’t visit Target very often. We had to buy a quick birthday and bridal gift for a party on Saturday.

Well, I walked out with more than a gift for the party… don’t we all? I walked by a clearance rack and my eyes immediately shot to the Sonia Kashuk brushes on sale.

This is the first set I bought, they are cream and black with gold accents. The design is just a super cute geometric design. This set only costed me $14.98 on clearance! Being so cute and limited edition, I had to have them.

This second set has more brushes included, a full face set. The design is what caught my eye. They are black with gold cobras down the side. I fell in love with these because of how unique they are! The price was only $19.98, a must have.

Overall, I’m so happy I walked by that clearance rack and saw these limited edition brushes, who can have too many brushes right? If you’re interested check your local Target, there was many left at my local target! Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this post!
