Why I Cancelled Birchbox

As the title says… I have decided to cancel my Birchbox. There are many reasons behind this decision. You may be thinking, “it’s only $10” that $10 adds up as you keep being let down by the boxes. Here’s why I cancelled: 1. Inconsistency. The Birchbox subscription is VERY inconsistent. I can get a half way decent box one month then get a horrible box the next month.

2. Disappointment. When I do get that good box I will think okay they’re getting better, I can’t wait for next month. Then what happens next month? It’s a huge disappointment, I’ll get another bad box.

3. Way to many hair products. I signed up for the beauty/makeup products it promises. I hardly ever get a makeup item. All I get is loads of hair products and they’re adding up quickly.

4. The $10 is a waste if the products don’t leave me happy!

I wanted to like Birchbox so much but I just couldn’t bring myself to like it enough to keep it.

I hope this helped you if you’re a subscriber or thinking of subscribing, thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Ashley

August Birchbox

Wow, I cannot believe I’m already writing my August Birchbox Unboxing. August? Already? Gosh, where did the time go?

This month I actually chose the curated box. This is my first time ever choosing the curated box. I loved almost every product inside this box and so I figured why not? Inside I recieved:

  • Stila stay all day liquid lipstick in Patina.
  • Living Proof No Frizz nourishing oil.
  • HUM Nutrition Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder.
  • Acure Organics Coconut & Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes.
  • Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow.
  • Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle.

This being my fifth Birchbox, I think it has been my best one ever recieved. I’m so happy with it and I think Birchbox redeemed themselves! Yay, go Birchbox!

Did you get Birchbox this month? What did you recieve?

XOXO,

Ashley

July Birchbox

Hello lovelies! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! If not, I hope your day gets better 🙂

Yesterday I recieved my Birchbox in the mail. To my surprise, it was actually good this month! Thank you Birchbox for surprising me and giving me a better box.

The first thing I saw when I opened my box was this Marcelle micellar water. This was a free gift for re-subscribing. This is a pretty great size for a sample, I’m very happy with it.

I also recieved in my Birchbox:

  • Balance Me face mask, suitable for all skin types. The full size costs $34. I don’t think I would buy the full size because of costs but it’s a fun thing to recieve in a box.
  • Another Marcelle micellar water, nope I’m not complaining. I’m actually happy about it. I like micellar waters for removing makeup. This full sized costs $21.
  • MDSolarSciences Mineral Cream. I feel eh about this product, it’s a face product and I’m always afraid to branch out and try new things but who knows right? The full size costs $30.
  • Raw Spirit fragrances perfume sample. I’m actually happy that this sample is a spray bottle and not one of those open caps. I love the spray ones because you can carry them in your purse. The full size costs $40-$90.
  • Lastly I recieved Smashbox X-Rated mascara. I’m super excited about this. Yes Birchbox! So happy to recieve some smashbox in this months box. The full size costs $22.

Overall I’m happy that I stuck with Birchbox this month, hopefully they’re consistent next month! Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Ashley

Birchbox May Unboxing

I received my May Birchbox today in the mail and wanted to share my Unboxing with you all. I’m not impressed at all with Birchbox last month nor this month. It’s been quite the disappointment.

This is what I discovered when opening my Birchbox. The box is gorgeous, however the “samples” aren’t as pretty.

I received five small products in my box this month.

•Beauty Protector- this is a protectant and a detangler, the red bottle. This was the only decent sized bottle inside the box. This product I will use, but won’t get many uses out of it.

•COOLA- this product came half full in the sample. It’s supposed to be a mango SPF 50 sunscreen. I was pretty excited about this until I opened it and saw the size… I was immediately disappointed about how small the bottle was and how little of use I would get out of the product. It smelled amazing though.

•Cotz- this product was just a joke in my opinion. You could easily walk into Sephora and ask for a sample and get this size or even bigger…

•Jouer- This long lasting lipstick was a beautiful color and I was looking forward to this the most out of the whole box. When I received the box it ended up being smaller than my pinkie finger. I was shocked. Really? They couldn’t give us a deluxe sample?

•Lastly I received W3LL People concealer. This product will end up being used by myself but the size bugged me again. Big time. I guess they weren’t into the boxes this month.

I know this review was super unhappy but I wanted to give an honest review on my Birchbox. I did cancel my subscription and I subscribed to Boxycharm instead, I know there is a small price difference but honestly for the size difference, to me it’s worth it.

This is my first month trying Birchbox and so far I think it’s pretty cool. It’s 10$/ month for 5 beauty products. Yes I don’t have 5 pictured but I didn’t keep all 5 this month because two I didn’t actually need.

I didn’t want to “hoard” the products so I gave them to a friend.

The notebooks/journals were a freebie this month and it came in a pack of two. They’re by the brand Rifle paper company. They have such a cute spring pattern on them and I’m loving them. They’re super small and that’s great because they are able to fit inside your purse for note taking.

The box also came with a coupon for Rifle Paper Co. For 20% off on their website. This coupon is only for Birchbox subscribers through the end of the year.

The five products included this month were:

  1. Briorgeo deep conditioning mask (pictured above.) This product smells BOMB.COM I couldn’t even believe how good it smelled. This was like Birchbox read my mind this month, literally. I needed a deep conditioning mask or anything really to help my dry ends of my hair moisturize. Hopefully this helps my ends with a use or two.
  2. The second product was a perfume sample. Oh. My. Gosh. This perfume. It smells so elegant and so classy. I smelled it for like two minutes because I couldn’t believe how good it smelled. It’s called TOCCA. The fragrance is a mixture of grapefruit, bergamot, jasmine, blue iris, a base of blonde wood and white musk. I would recommend it to anyone that’s willing to splurge a bit.
  3. The last product you can see is the Burts Bees lip balm. I love Burts Bees. It’s so hydrating and makes your lips feel baby soft. This full sized product came in the color Red Dahlia. It’s a darker red berry color tinted balm.
  4. This product isn’t pictured the reason isn’t because I don’t like it, it’s because I have too many dark colored eyeshadows. The Coastal Scents duo in a grey and black color came in my box this month and honestly I was super excited because I have been wanting to try this brand out for SO LONG. AND I MEAN SO LONG. I gave this to a friend so I didn’t keep a shadow with colors I don’t use.
  5. I didn’t keep this one because my skin is super sensitive and I was afraid I would break out but otherwise it smelled amazing and I loved the texture it had. I tested it on my hand and I loved it but I was too paranoid about my face. This was the Naobay mattifying cream.

Overall, I’m itching to get my next Birchbox because I am super excited. This is also a great way to test products and see how well you like them before buying. I would recommend this to anyone who has a hard time finding products they love and who wants to try new things.
